I think I'd say something slightly different - I have a load of things (money, education, contacts etc) which I have not earned. And that gives an obligation on me to use them on behalf of my brethren who do not have those things. I totally agree that a top-down approach is unhelpful, but I don't agree that I have nothing to offer. What is certainly true is that my offering should be in brokenness and without seeking to be a saviour. Mmm.. interesting perspective.
