New Aboriginal Church for Melbourne’s west

Tony and Francine Riches have recently begun an important new Aboriginal ministry in partnership with Footscray Church of Christ in Melbourne’s inner west. Significantly this is an Aboriginal led initiative that will provide a safe space for Indigenous peoples to encounter Christ in the context of their own community. The church will provide culturally appropriate services for local families to access in support of their spiritual needs.

  1. Novy Rich says:

Mundara Koorang Aboriginal Elder, renowned artist, author, actor and educator, learned to read and write at the age of 29. Since then he has acquired a Bachelor of Education, Master Indigenous Social Policy and has spent his life educating people from all cultures, particularly his own. He has provided for charities of all forms, hundreds of his paintings to assist in raising funds for their causes. He has been a mentor for many, taking the time for all people regardless of colour, creed, culture or race. Recently Mundara, or Mundy as he prefers to be known had a breakdown, and after near 5 weeks in the hospital has been diagnosed with an irreversible illness.

A Novena for the healing of Mundy will begin on the 8th October 2010 (Mother Mary’s Birthday) and end on the 16th October 2010 the day before the Canonisation of Australia’s First Saint Mary MacKillop.

For those that are not religious, or have different faiths and beliefs, and those that are, spiritual as I am, will be reciting blessings, lighting candles and saying our own prayers during the Novena. The hope is in creating a healing miracle for Mundy.

Mundara is a man that has given so much over such a short period of time and is now in need of help. My hope is that you will consider joining us and I sincerely thank those that will. Please pass this on to as many people as you are able, thanking you.
    Novy
