Some of our SURRENDER:12 speakers share what they’re looking forward to at this year’s SURRENDER:12 Conference:
Tony Riches, Melbourne Indigenous Church Fellowship:I am looking forward to meeting up with the people who come to see what they can do for God not just what He can do for them. We love to share what is happening and what is important to make happen in relation to Indigenous ministry and relationships with the broader church community. See you there!
Marcus Curnow, Convenor SEEDS Footscray: I’m looking forward to going to Surrender for one reason… necessity! The longer I am involved in ministry at the margins the more I realise how the Spirit longs to join my work and passion to that of others for support, inspiration, hope and real change. Surrender helps connect me and my mob to the movement we need and long for!
Siu Fung, World Vision Representative: I am delighted to share some reflections in a workshop about social justice and salvation. I will be sharing some ordinary stories that speak of lives transformed by the radical gospel. I really look forward to it because the Scripture speaks of the hope of salvation. It’s a hope that causes us to give up everything to follow Jesus. It’s a hope of true justice and grace that ancient Israel looked to when they were in exile. It’s a hope that the vulnerable and disadvantaged found when Jesus came to the world. It’s a hope that Paul hung on to in all his weakness. It’s a hope we find in Revelation, where Jesus spoke to his followers as they lived under the oppressive rule of the Empire. And it is a life-giving hope that our local community finds in our own struggles.
