The Vertical Self

Welcome to the 21st century, where you can now purchase and exchange personalities depending on mood and circumstance; where you are told that you can be anyone you want to be, and identity is no longer based in a sense of self but rather in the imagery you choose at that moment.

Discover a path of earthy, gutsy holiness. It’s a path that is not about basing your life on this world or of shunning your desires. Instead, it is about bringing your hopes, your dreams, your brokenness, your desires, your humanness under the Lordship of Christ. By doing this we don’t just discover a new way of living out our faith, we discover a liberating, revolutionary, life-embracing way of being truly human.

Remember those in Prison: Exploring Restorative Justice

There is a view held by many Christians that justice is purely about retribution, an ‘eye for an eye’. Others, sadly, are simply unengaged and unaware.  As anyone canvassing for prison volunteers knows, there is an urgent need for Christians to live out their faith in a practical and vital way through ministering to prisoners, ex-prisoners, and their families. Come and hear about who goes to prison and the imprisonment experience; , The criminal justice system vs. a restorative justice approach, innovative new approaches and opportunities for involvement in prison and after prison ministry.

Church & Society: Why is the church against Human Rights?

While we in the church may have our reasons for opposing a Bill of Human Rights and insisting on being exempt from the Equal Opportunity Act, we need to be aware of the message this sends to the others in the community.  Are we against human rights and do we expect to be treated differently from others just because we are Christian?  How do we as church participate in the processes of good government?
